Snake Drive

murdering the blues

Snake Drive V: Friday 4th Feb 2005

The Len Price 3, Pig Iron Joe, Banister + Headphoned and Chucklevision Sound System

Another day, another dollar, another Snake Drive, another shit kicking night of nu blues. Panic stations were fired as the people spilled in at 8.30 to the rockingist rocksteady beat of a single turntable. Sound men dashed about and eventually Headphoned got the second deck turning much to the delight of everyone concerned.

Pretty soon the action got started upstairs with the mighty Banister making their Snake Drive debut. "Course, we've got nothing to do with the blues" they opined, just before launching into a blistering blues rocking set.

Next up came Snake Drive faves Pig Iron Joe offering a new stripped down line up with a couple of new songs thrown in for extra measure. As they cracked through their set they barely stopped to announce the launch of their new single - silly boys!

Finally The Len Price 3, the Medway delta kings, took the stage like mod-tastic gods on a scooter holiday to the East Midlands. 2-3-4 here we go, hooped tops, bouncing crowd pleasers and the sounds of suped-up sixties RnB brought the live music section of the night to a storming close.

Meanwhile downstairs the beat went on. Chucklevision fired up their thing and the crowd got to dancing. Pretty soon The Dirty Backbeats burst in from their gig across town and whirled and twirled until the man called last orders and we all had to fly away home.
