"I am the God of hellfire and I bring you......"
Arthur Brown, a living legend.
The original psychedelic king of rock is coming to Leicester, 24 March 2007 at the Musician. In 1968 Arthur, outraged and astounded the British public on Top of the Pops. Appearing resplendent in flaming helmet and psychedelic robes, Arthur Brown gave the world the No.1 hit single "Fire." He is a world-class showman, stage artist, a performer of dreams and nightmares. His music will reach into your soul and inflame your brain! "We saw Arthur Brown and his Crazy World and the whole thing was just an eye-opener to me. He used to sing ‘I am the God of hellfire’ and then he’d set fire to his fuckin’ head. That told me a lot. I knew where I was heading from then on." George Clinton, The Prime Minister of Funk.
His influence is felt by everyone from Jimi Hendrix and Alice Cooper to Marilyn Manson and The Darkness (yes that’s him in the ‘Is it just me?’ video). Pete Townsend worked on his album and he appeared as the priest in "Tommy". He performed for Salvador Dali at the Moulin Rouge, now he will perform for you! Death masks, firearm offences and public nakedness? Paratheatrics, Pyrotechnics, hat tricks and vampire suites? He will put a spell on you.
